Gavin Greenaway

Head of Performing Arts

Following a B.A (Hons) degree in music and a PGCE from the University of Leeds I have over 26 years of teaching experience across 4 schools in the UK, mostly near London and Cambridge in Director of Music roles leading on KS3, GCSE and A level curriculum. Additionally I have extensive experience in setting up extra-curricular programmes for Bands, Choirs, Orchestras, producing school productions/ musicals plus organising music tours to the USA, Italy and France. I have worked as moderator of GCSE and A level coursework (music and music technology) for all the major UK exam boards including Edexcel, AQA and OCR for 25 years.

Since relocating to Abu Dhabi in 2017I have worked in two schools, completed my PENTA inspector qualification and passed my NPQSL in 2019. After joining GEMS Cambridge International I am hugely excited by the musical potential of our learners across all phases. To that end I have enjoyed creating a number of music ensembles – the CIA Function Band, CIA Community Choir, led GCSE music through its first successful cohort 2020-22 and this year will be providing some after school music enrichment opportunities to our learners.
